If you are trying to choose between whether you should buy a desktop computer or a laptop then you should probably pick desktop.Of course it depends on for what purpose do you want to buy it but normally desktop is a better choice.Here's why.
Upgradeable
You can easily upgrade your desktops to keep up with modern technology like replacing your processor, adding more ram, increasing the storage etc.Now there are laptops which can be upgraded to some extent but not so easily as you can in desktop by getting little help from YouTube videos.
More Durable
The desktop is long lasting while the average lifespan of laptop is just five years even if you replace the battery.The main reason behind that is the desktops are more powerful, laptop use a smaller mobile version of processor which are not so powerful and that is why the speed slows down overtime giving it a shorter lifespan.
Flexibility
Since portability is the main feature of laptops it simply cannot afford to have large screen while desktop monitors on the other hand can be even connected to a TV so the display can be as big as a TV screen.
Better For Gaming
Desktops have better CPU & GPU performance and also with a bigger display it is clearly better for gaming than a laptop.Also laptops get overheated quickly and having a GPU running on a laptop simply just drains out its battery.If you are planning to connect it without a battery then it is giving disadvantage to its "portability" feature.
Conclusion
Of course laptops are good because it can be moved,carried and placed in a smaller area, also having a battery is a big advantage but like I said it depends on the purpose of your usage.If you just want to use it at home or play games on it then desktop is better.
